If you have or have had a bike, you are probably dealing with inner tubes in your tires. As a result, you probably also had problems with puncturing the tubes because you ran over a thorn or drove over something sharp. If you wanted to have better grip on the tires, you reduced the pressure in the wheels, which is a smart idea, as long as you don't hit something hard and suffer a so-called ''snake bike'' puncture. The solution to all these problems? Tubeless system!
As the name suggests, this is a tubeless tire mounting system. This can be done with tires that have the Tubeles Ready feature. This is usually written on the side of the Tyre with the abbreviations TR. A Tubeless rim, special ring adhesive tape and a valve are also needed to make the rim airtight. However, the Tubeless system does not work without a sealing fluid that seals all the small holes between the rim and the tire.
What are the advantages of the tubeless system?
What are the disadvantages of the tubeless system?
Zahtevnejša namestitev Tubeless sistema, kot zamenjava zračnice
Vzdrževanje – potrebno dotočiti tesnilno tekočino vsake 3 - 6 mesecev
V kolikor nimate plašča in platišča kompatibilnega z Tubeless sistemov bo zadeva precej dražja kot nakup zračnice.
Improved Tubeless system with Tubeless inserts
In recent years, due to wider tires, low tire pressures, higher speeds and more demanding terrain, there is an increasing demand for "tubeless inserts". Tubeless inserts not only offer protection for the ring, but also exceptional stability of the tire, which prevents the rubber from twisting in aggressive turns.
If you are looking for complete protection for your ring and exceptional cornering stability, CushCore is the right choice. Insert CushCore is otherwise a bit heavier and more expensive than the competition. Under normal driving, competing products are usable for a season or two, while the CushCore is almost indestructible.
Advantages:
Reduces the chance of a rim puncture
Increases grip and enables driving with lower pressure
Protects the ring from impacts and damage
It allows driving even with an empty bike
Compatible with all aluminum and carbon rims
Disadvantages:
Extra weight
More demanding assembly
Dirt when changing a rim
Additional costs
Problems with the Tubeless system
Usually, the Tubeless system fights with thorns and other sharp objects without any problems, and despite the foam inserts, there is a possibility that you can puncture the jacket or even cut it on some sharp rock. Sealant is usually fine for small holes, but for larger holes, unfortunately, it will not work and other measures will be required.
One of the solutions are the so-called worms. These are elongated sealing sticks, we push them into the resulting hole with the help of a hook. The worms form a lump inside the rubber that should seal a fairly large hole without any problems.
Another option is to glue a flap or part of an old inner tube to the inside of the jacket where there is a hole. If the incision is much larger, it can also be sewn up. If we want the hole to be completely airtight, we can combine sewing the hole with a flap from the inside. If there are still small holes left, they will be sealed with sealing liquid.
