What is a BMS system?
The BMS (battery management system) is an electronic circuit that controls the battery. It is a mandatory component of li-ion battery packs. It monitors the battery in such a way that it is always within certain pre-set parameters, which ensures greater battery safety. It monitors all supporting processes in the battery, both input parameters and energy consumption parameters, temperature maxima in the battery and provides insights into the history of the specified parameters. With a smart BMS, we extend the life of the batteries and have a more precise insight into the state of the battery.
A smart BMS has advantages for both the battery user and the seller. It gives you a more accurate overview of parameters such as: battery charge, display of battery range in individual help. It gives the seller insight into the history of battery parameters. We can see the following data such as: temperature maxima, currents, errors, production data, SoH (State of Health). The smart BMS also ensures more optimal charging and balancing of the cells, thus protecting them and extending the life of the battery.

Engine compatibility
BMS is compatible with Motinova, Domel, Tongsheng, Econo, Bafang brand motors. It can also be connected to all engines with CANBUS communication or to engines without communication.

The difference between a smart and a regular BMS
An ordinary BMS has only basic safety functions built in, such as balancing and shutdown in case of voltage and current extremes. In addition to the aforementioned, the smart BMS also has shutdown in the event of temperature extremes, short circuit shutdown, the ability to measure capacity, calculate battery health, send data via CANBUS to the engine and screen, and record other parameters. The user first notices the display of the battery charge in % on the screen, as well as the calculation of the battery range, which is not possible with a normal one.
The shape of the BMS
Battery cases are different from each other. Therefore, the inside of each battery is also different. BMSs inserted into the battery can also serve as a structural element. Therefore, a different BMS design is required for each battery. Since the development and production of BMS is in Slovenia, quick modification and adaptation for almost any battery case is also possible. Which is reflected in the faster development of the new battery pack.
